Everest Three passes trek is one of the exciting, adventurous and most popular trekking destinatios in Nepal.  Three High Passes include Kongma La Pass, Renjo La Pass and Cho La Pass. These three passes trek offers splendid view of several peaks including some of the world's highest peaks such as Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Makalu (8,463 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m). Trekking in Nepal especially, in Everest region you can get the best opportunity to explore unique culture of Sherpas, adventures, rare flora and faunas with the majestic view of the world's highest Himalayas.

Budget three high pass trek joins the major valleys of Khumbu region and takes you to the best view point (Kalapatthar, Gokyo Ri and three high passes) of Everest region.  Main attractions of this trekking are to walk along Ngozumba glacier ( the biggest glacier in Nepal), visit Ama Dablam base camp, pass Chhukung valley, ascend Kalapatthar for phenomenal sunrise view, experience breathtaking Gokyo view and climb to Renjo La Pass, Kongma La Pass, and Cho La Pass. Budget Three Passes trek targets those who are physically fit, adventure lovers, who have low budget and have trekking habits. Budget Three Passes trek starts from Lukla and we walk to touristic hub and capital city of Sherpas, Namchebazar. The trail climbs to Renjo La Pass to reach Gokyo valley and walk through Ngozumba glacier to reach Everest Base Camp via Cho La Pass. Finally, we visit Kalapatthar and ascend to Kongma La Pass and trek to Lukla through classic EBC trail. After adventurous trek we fly back to Kathmandu.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu (1,400 m) to Lukla (2,860 m) and trek to Phakding (2640 m).~ 30 minutes flight and 2-3 hours walk

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namchebazaar (3,440 m).~ 4-5 hours

Day 03: Trek from Namchebazaar to Thame (3,800 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 04: Acclimatization in Thame. 

Day 05: Trek from Thame to Lumden (4,380 m).~ 5-6 hours 

Day 06: Trek from Lumden to Gokyo Lake (4,800 m) via Renjo La Pass (5,465 m).~ 7-8 hours

Day 07: Exploration in Gokyo.

Day 08: Trek from Gokyo to Thangna (4,700 m).~ 3-4 hours

Day 09: Trek from Thangnak to Dzongla (4,830 m) via Chola pass (5,330 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 10: Trek from Dzongla to Gorekshep (5164 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 11: Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) & EBC and trek back to Lobuche (4910 m).~  7-8 hours 

Day 12: Trek from Lobuche to Chhukung via Kongma La Pass (5,535 m).~ 8-9 hours

Day 13: Trek from Chhukung to Tengboche (3,860 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 14: Trek from Tengboche to Namchebazaar (3,440 m).~ 4-5 hours

Day 15: Trek from Namchebazaar to Lukla (2,860 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 16: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m).~ 30 minutes flight.

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is the most concerned part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisines. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food as they have to cater to more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes a week or more for caravan and porters to bring the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will be arranged in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be a big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea houses you can get bottled water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you the best touristic hotel in Kathmandu with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge facilities are fairly basic. In some tea houses you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spared with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warmth by Bukhara stove. In the tea houses there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charging your camera, mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get a porter who will carry maximum 30 kg which means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry maximum 30 kg of your stuff. Porters will carry your necessary stuff in a duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous types. The passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we should have good health, average physical fitness, passion, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be  better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lungs, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa Treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for trekking in the Himalayas. Trekking in Summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but temperatures could be harsher for  the most trekkers.

Important Notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium sized bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu (1,400 m) to Lukla (2,860 m) and trek to Phakding (2,640 m).~ 30 minutes flight and 2-3 hours walk
Today we take since flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. We can see spectacular view of several mountain peaks. After dramatic landing between the surrounding hills you will meet your crew (Guide and Porter) then prepare for trekking. We pass Lukla village and descend to Dudh Koshi valley. Trail follows Dudh Koshi river and cross several suspension bridge. We pass through different Sherpa villages such as Chheplung, Nachipang, Koshi Gaun with the view of stunning Ama Doblam to reach Phakding. Phakding is beautiful green Dudh Koshi valley. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namchebazaar (3,440 m).~ 4-5 hours walk
Today also we walk through George of the Dudh Koshi river passing different villages. Trail ascend to the Monjo village; here your all travel documents and permit will be checked before enter the UNESCO heritage site Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. We walk through National park observing the rare flora and fauna of Himalaya region. Next, we ascend for 2 hours to reach Namchebazaar. Explore colorful market and rest overnight.

Day 03: Trek from Namchebazaar to Thame (3,800 m).~ 5-6 hours walk
Today we walk to reach Thame. After leaving Namche trail lead us to Thamu; which is small and old Sherpa village. After exploring the village we continue our trek towards Thame by passing Samde village. Next, our trail lead us to Thame village, we will explore Thame village and visit small hydro power in Thame. Rest overnight.

Day 04: Acclimatization in Thame (3800 m).
Today you will halt and go for short hike around to visit some Gumba and Sherpa village. We can get the close view of Kong de ri and several other mountain. Rest overnight at Thame.

Day 05: Trek from Thame to Lunden (4,137 m).~ 5-6 hours walk
Today trail moves through easy walk to Murlung through Dudh Koshi River then trail lead us to uphill in dry valley with the majestic view snow capped peaks around. We ascend to the ridge and stay at lodge.  

Day 06: Trek from Lunden to Gokyo Lake (4,800 m) via Renjo La Pass (5,465 m).~ 7-8 hours walk
Today trail ascend to Renjo La Pass and see the splendid view of Gokyo Lake and towering view of several peaks. Next, our trail ascends to Gokyo and rest overnight with the great view of Gokyo Lake.

Day 07: Exploration in Gokyo.
we can acclimatization, this day we should active instead of lazy. This acclimatization day help us to avoid the altitude sickness. We will ascend to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) and see the beautiful view around. Explore other nearby lakes and rest overnight.

Day 08:Trek from Gokyo to Thangnak (4,700 m).~ 3-4 hours
We suggest you to walk early because we trail goes through Nagozampa Glacier which is biggest glacier in Nepal. We should cross this glacier before sun gets strong because sun heat melts ice pretty fast. After reaching Thangnak explore stunning view around and rest overnight. 

Day 09: Trek from Thangnak to Zonglha (4,830 m) via Chola pass (5,330 m).~ 6-7 hours walk
Today is one of the hardest part of this trek. After breakfast we ascend to ridge and descend to the downhill. Trail again climb to the Cho La Pass (5,330 m), here we can see prayers flage and collection of stones. From here you can get the majestic view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and other several peaks. Next, our trail descends through huge rock and easy walk to Zonglha. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 10: Trek from Zonglha to Gorek shep (5,164 m).~ 6-7 hours
Today is easy downhill and some ups and downs will leads us to Lobuche. Explore around and rest overnight at Lodge.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) and EBC (5364 M) and trek back to Lobuche (4910 m).~  7-8 hours walk
Toady we wake up early in the morning and hike to the Kalapatthar for the breathtaking view of sunrise over highest mountains of the world. After magnificent view of sunrise trek back to Gorekshep. After lunch we will trek to EBC and trajectory to Lobuche and rest overnight.

Day 12: Trek from Lobuche to Chhukung via Kongma La Pass (5,535 m).~ 8-9 hours
Today we walk through Khumbu Glacier and cross the river to climb Kongma La Pass (5,535 m) which is highest High Pass of this trek. From here you can see the 360 degree view of world’s highest mountains around you. After at the top of the Pass, trail descends to Chhukung valley. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 13: Trek from Chhukung to Tengboche (3,860 m).~ 6-7 hours walk
Today we walk and follow the Imjha river and pass Dingboche village. After lunch we walk through Pangboche village and cross Imjha River. After 1 hour walk in forest will lead us to Tengboche village. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 14: Trek from Tengboche to Namchebazaar (3,440 m).~ 4-5 hours walk
Today early in the morning we visit Tengboche monastery. After breakfast trail descend through forest to reach Dudhkoshi river. After crossing Dudh Koshi River ascend through forest and trail lead us to ridge above the Namchebazaar. Explore around Namche and rest overnight.

Day 15: Trek from Namchebazaar to Lukla (2,860 m).~ 6-7 hours
Today is our last day of this trek. Trails descend to Dudh Koshiu valley and follow the Dudh Koshi River. We will cross several suspension bridge and Sherpa villages to reach Lukla village. Next, our trail ascends to Lukla village, you can enjoy last night in Khumbu region and rest overnight.

Day 16: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m).~ 30 minutes flight.
Today we take flight to Kathmandu. We fly taking lots of memories of Everest region, after landing in Kathmandu our airport representative will receive and assist you to hotel. After getting rest and refreshed Yarsa treks will arrange dinner in Nepali restaurant with cultural shows. Enjoy cultural show and rest overnight at hotel. Here Yarsa treks end service with you. Hope this is not last time travelling with us.
