Ganja-la trek is one of the popular and challenging trekking destination in Langtang region. This 14 days long trek makes you cross one of the difficult pass in Langtang Region the Ganja-La pass (5,122 m /16,800 ft). Rhododendron and bamboo forest, beautiful mountains, cascades, turquoise lakes with soaring Mountain View on the backdrop makes Langtang region one of the best trekking destination in Nepal. The Highlights of the trek are passing Ganja-La pass, exploring Tserko Ri (5,053 m.) -which is famous sunrise and mountain view point in the region, observing spectacular mountain views, famous lake of Gosainkunda and many more.

In the trek we can explore the culture of Tibetan and Tamang community. Climbing small peaks at the comfortable altitude and get the view of Himalayan peaks and glacier will makes our trail more exciting. Visit the biggest Mani wall, prayers flags, hundreds of years old monasteries and yak pasture. Kyanjing Gompa is last Tibetan settlement; this Gompa is almost 700 hundred years old monastery. Amazing Himalayan view are seen on the way such as Langtang lirung (7,227 m), Naya kanga (5,846 m), Jugal himal ( 8,013 m) and far Annapurna range. In this trek most challenging and adventurous way is cross the Ganja la pass (5,122 m). To cross Ganja la pass we need some equipment and experienced local guide who have huge knowledge of this route.

Ganja-La trek starts all the way from Syabru Bensi and ends at Melamchi Pul Bazar. From Syabru Bensi you will follow Langtang River in east, passing by the dense forest of rhododendron, maple, oak, birch, juniper until you reach Langtang village. Kyangjing Gompa is surrounded by mountains with Kangchenpo, Loenpo Gang (6,979 m) and Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m), Urkeinmang (6,387 m), Langtang Lirung (7,245 m)  In kyangjin Gompa you will also get to visit a famous Gompa named Kyangjin and Yala Cheese factory which was built in by Swiss association with their technical assistance. From Kyangjin Gompa you will climb up the Ganja-La pass where last few 100 m climb is demanding and so we will use rope to climb the pass. Ganja-La pass trek is camping type of trekking for three days. Since, the Park authority does not allow cutting of trees we need to carry all the supplies with us.

Day 01: Kathmandu (1,400 m) Arrival Day

Day 02: Drive to Dhunche (1,950 m).~ 7 hour drive

Day 03: Trek to Thulo Syabru Gaun (2,230 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,480 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3500 m). ~ 5-6 hours

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjing Gompa (3,900 m).~ 3-4 hours

Day 07: Hike to Tseko ri (5,100 m) and back to Kyanjing Gomap.

Day 08: Trek to Ganga La Phedi (4,300 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 09: Trek to Keldang via Ganja La Pass (5,122 m).~ 7-8 hours

Day 10: Trek to Yak Kharka (4,000 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 11: Trek to Amjela Ri (3,560 m) and back to Yak Kharka.~ 3-4 hours

Day 12: Trek to Tarke Ghyang (2,530 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 13: Trek to Timbu drive back to Kathmandu (1,400 m).~ 4-5 drive hours

Day 14: Departure day.

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is most concern part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisine. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food, they have to cater more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes week or more for caravan and porter to brings the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will arrange in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottle water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge are fairly basic, some tea house you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spare with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charge Camera, Mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter he will carry 30 kg it means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porter will carry your necessary stuff in duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we have good health, average physical fitness, passionate, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (March-May) is the best season for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but tempters could be most harsh for most trekkers.

Important notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01:Welcome to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu international airport we assist you from airport to our hotel. Enjoy evening welcome programs with Nepali cuisine and cultural dances. Rest overnight at hotel

Day 02:Today we drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (1,950 m).
Today we drive all the way to Dhunche(1,966 m). From bus it takes 1hour to reach our destination. We explore beauty of Dhunche and Rest overnight.

Day 03: Trek from Dhunche to Thulo Syabru Gaun (2,230 m).
Today early in the morning we start our trek from Dhunche to Syabru Gaun (2,230 m). We traveled Dhunche with vehicle, today we start our first day trekking to the high region. We will move through dense forest of pine oak and rhododendron. Almost 7 hours treks will lead us to Syabru Gaun and rest overnight.

Day 04:Trek from Thulo Syabru Gaun to Lama hotel (2,480 m).
Today we walk for 6-7hour from Syabru gaun all the way to Lama Hotel (2,470 m).after breakfast and short brief about route and safety, we ascend gradually following langtang river, crossing suspension bridge, dense pine and oak forest, passing different villages experiencing their lifestyle and culture we will be in lama hotel (2470 m) and rest overnight.

Day 05:Trek to Langtang village (3,500 m).
We trek to the cultural village Langtang to explore the culture of the inhabitants, sightseeing and hiking over nearby hills for some fascinating mountain view. To reach Langtang village we fallow the Langtang River crosses the dense forest of oak and rhododendron. We will be in Langtang village and rest overnight.

Day 06:Trek Langtang village to Kyanjing Gompa(3,900 m).
Today we trek from Langtang village for 3hours all the way to Kyanjing Gompa (4,060 m). Today we trek for 2-3 hours all the way to Kyanjing Gompa (3,900 m). After short brief about route and safety, We start trek to Kyanjing  Gompa. Leaving the tree line behind, ascend and descend will leads us to Mani wall (biggest mani wall of Nepal) and yak posture. This is Trans Himalaya route from ancient period. From here short walk will bring us Kyanjing. Rest overnight.

Day 07: Explore around Kyanjing Gompa.
Today early in the morning after breakfast, we go for a hike to Tseko Ri (5,033 m). Here we can panoramic Himalayan scenery including Langtang Lirung, Yala peak, Naya Khanga, Shiha pangama etc. After panoramic view we walk back to Kyanjing Gompa and rest overnight.

Day 08:From Kyanjing Gompa to Ganga La Phedi (4,300 m).
Today we trek from Kyanjing Gompa to Ganga La Phedi (4,300 m.). Trail ascends to the Ganja la Phedi we walk through the snow also you can see the little vegetation here. Almost 6 hour trails; we will be Ganja la Phedi (4,300 m) and rest overnight.

Day 09: We Trek to Keldang (4,300 m) through Ganja la pass (5,122 m).
Today from Ganga la Phedi we trek to Keldang (4,300 m) crossing over Ganja La pass(5,122 m). Today we ascend to ganja la pass to reach Keldang (4,300 m). From Ganga la pass we can see the magnificent view of Ganesh himal, Langtang  Lirung and other peaks. After Ganja la pass top we ascend to Keldang and Rest overnight.

Day 10:Trek from Ganja la base camp to Yak Kharka (4,000 m).
Today early in the morning we trek from Ganja la base camp to Yak Kharka (4,000 m). Today our trail descends to the little low altitude. On the way we can see some beautiful and fascinating peaks around us. These beautiful views make us relief from tiredness. After reaching yak Kharka we will take rest and overnight.

Day 11: Trek from Yamjela RI to Amjela RI (3,560 m) then back to Yak Kharka.
Today we trek from Yamjela RI to Amjela RI (3,560 m).Today we trek Yamjela RI and Amjela RI to get the view of Langtang himalayan range and other peaks. After taking some snaps we will turn back to Yak kharka and rest overnight.

Day 12:Trek from Yak Kharka to Tarke Ghayang (2,530 m).
Today we trek from Yak Kharka to Tarke Ghayang (2,530 m). Our trail continues to descend low altitude. On the way we can see different landscape, feel the rises of temperature and see the different ethnic diversity. Different ethnic groups, their cultural custom and delightful hospitality makes our trekking more relief. Next, we will reach Tarke Ghayang and rest overnight.

Day 13: Trek from Tarek Ghayang to Timbu and drive to Kathmandu.
Today early in the morning after having a fine breakfast we trek from Tarek Ghayang to Timbu. We trek crossing some small streams on the way. Today our trail moves quite easier way through flat land with beautiful forest on the way. We will drive to Kathmandu.

Day 14: Final departure.
Today after having you lunch and bag packed yarsa treks will drop you to international airport for your safe departure. There will be the farewell program before your departure. hope this is not your last time in Nepal. we are always ready to welcome you to explore untouched natural beauty and unique culture of Nepal.
