Ghale Gaun is a touristic destination of Annapurna region. Ghale Gaun is a settlement of warrior ethnic tribe,Gurung. The Gurungs are serving as army in Nepal,Britain, Singapore and India. In short period you can explore the wonderful Gurung culture, lifestyle of local people and natural beauty. Ghale Gaun is located at 2,200 m height with majestic views of Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Fishtail (6,993 m), Annapurna (8,091 m) and other many peaks. Local people have developed this area as a tourist destination and we can enjoy home stay facility with local food and clean accommodation. Ghale Gaun is the best place for honey hunting trip and most of the honey hunting takes place in Winter season.
Ghale Gaun is famous for typical culture of Gurung community. Every evening people of Ghale Gaun warmly welcome tourists with their ethnic cultural dance. Visitors can participate in traditional Rodhi every evening. Ghale Gaun cultural trip starts from Kathmandu and we drive to Besisahar. From Khudi we will trek to cultural place Ghale Gaun and hike to Ghan Pokhara. Our trek moves through Bhujung, Pasagaun, Pakharikot, Nangdidhar, Thumsikot and we drive to Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (172 km, 6 hours) to Khudi (21 km, 2 hours).
Day 02: Trek from Khudi (790 m) to Ghale Gaun (2,200 m).~ 4 hours
Day 03: Exploration day in Ghale Gaun and Ghan Pokhara.
Day 04: Trek from Ghale Gaun to Pasgaun (1,800 m).~ 6-7 hours
Day 05: Trek from Pasgaun to Pakharikot/Nagdidhar (1,900 m).~ 5-6 hours
Day 06: Trek from Nagdidhar to Thumsikot and drive to Pokhara (835 m).~ 3 hours Trek and 3 hours drive.
Day 07: Exploration day in Pokhara.
Day 08: Drive 205 km from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,400 m). ~6-7 hours
More Information
Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is the most concerned part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisines. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food as they have to cater to more trekkers before they run off stock. It is very hard and takes a week or more for caravan and porters to bring the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will be arranged in the same lodge/Tea house.
Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea houses you can get bottled water and mineral water in additional cost. It will be better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.
Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodges are fairly basic, in some tea houses you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spared with two beds with blankets and little additional furniture. There will be large dining room where you can get the warmth by Bukhara stove. In the tea houses there will be solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charging camera, mobile phones and other small appliances.
Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get a porter who will carry 30 kg which means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porters will carry your necessary stuff in a duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous.Passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we should have good health, average physical fitness, passion, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problems such as lungs, heart and other diseases, it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.
Suitable Time to Trek:
For trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in Summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but temperatures could be harsher for most trekkers.

Important Notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (172 km, 6 hours) to
Khudi (21 km, 2 hours).
Today we will drive all the way to Besisahar and take jeep
to Khudi. After breakfast we drive with the beautiful scenery of green valley,
forest and small villages. We drive along the Trishuli river which is famous
for rafting. When we reach Munglin then our trail turns to south and few hour
drive will brings Dumre. From Dumre we turns our north and fallow the
Marsyangdi river, passes several villages, valleys we will reach Besisahar. Next
from Besisahar we will dfrive to Khudi for 2 hours (21 km). if we reached early
we will explorre around and rest overnight.
Day 02: Trek from Khudi (790 m) to Ghale gaun (2016 m).
Today we trek for 4 hours all the way to cultural Ghale Gaun. We start
our trail by ascend and walk through sub tropical vegetation. On the way we
cross several rivers with suspension bridge and wooden bridge. Next gradually
ascend will lead us to Ghale gaun. We will enjoy warm welcome with typical
dance. You can participate in traditional Rodhi dance in every evening.
Day 03: Exploration day in Ghale Gaun.
Today early in the morning we will see the beautiful sunrise
and Mountain View of Langtang himal, Fishtail, Annapurna, and other numerious
peaks. We will hike to another traditional village Ghan Pokhara. These two villages
will show the typical culture and lifestyle of Gurung community. Ghale Gaun and
Ghan Pokhara has biggest settlement of Gurung community. At the evening we can
enjoy the cultural shows of local community and rest overnight.
Day 04: Trek from Ghale Gaun to Pasgaun (1800 m).
Today we trek all the way to Pasgaun for 6 hours. Trail goes
straight until we reach Bhujung and descend through small villages, forest with
the chirpings sounds of birds. When we reach to the downhill we will start long
ascend through forest with the view of waterfalls, forest and small typical
villages. Next interesting trail will lead us to Pasgaun. If we got time we
will explore around and rest overnight.
Day 05: Trek from Pasgaun to Pakharikot/Nagdidhar (1900 m).
Today we will walk for 5-6 hour all the way to Nangdidhar. This
place has shortage of water so we should carry enough water. We start trail
ascending through Jungle with the view of waterfall and chirping of birds. After
ascend trail descend and walk through valleys and terraced field. Next we will
reach Nangdidhar. Explore the village and rest overnight.
Day 06: Trek from Nagdidhar to Thumsikot and drive to Pokhara (835 m).
Today is our last trek to Thumsikot. We descend for 1150 m
to reach Thamsikot. On the way we can see beautiful green valleys, scenery of
mountains and local people cutting crops to store. Next we reach Thamsikot. Here
we take jeep drive for 3 hours to reach Pokhara. The road is rough and muddy
but you will enjoy trip intimating with local people. Enjoy the evening at lake
side with great view and atmosphere.
Day 07: Exploration day in Pokhara.
Today we will explore the beautiful city Pokhara. Here we
can visit Mahindra cave, Guptshowar cave, Devi’s falls, world peace stupa with
the view of whole Pokhara valley and Phewa lake. After exploration you can
enjoy your last night at Pokara at the lake side in the pub and restaurant. Rest
overnight.
Day 08:Drive (6-7 hours, 205 km) from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1400 m).
Today we drive all the way to Kathmandu through several
small towns, valleys, and drive along the Trishuli river. Next we reach Kathmandu
and rest overnight.
