As you reach Gokyo Ri you will see the close up view of mountains standing at the ridge of the valley, very near as if you can touch them with your hands. Trekking through the Sherpa villages is unique experience to know the culture and tradition of friendly Sherpa people. The incredible ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung (7,922 m/25,991 ft) is panoramic and major attraction of this trek. You can pass through Gokyo ridge (5,483 m) or cross Cho- La Pass for extra adventure, if you wish. Gokyo Lake is another major attraction in Gokyo Ri trek, you can get spectacular view of high mountains and Gokyo valley during this trekking package.  

Gokyo Ri trail is popular for the view of mighty Himalaya including Mt. Everest (8848 m). Glacial Gokyo lake is major concentration for Gokyo Ri trekking, located at the west side of Khumbu glacier. Walking through the Ngozumpa glacier (biggest glacier of Nepal) is exciting and adventurous part of this trek. There are six glacial Gokyo lakes formatted by the melt of Ngozumpa glacier. From the ground near the lake you will get the sublime view of sky piercing peaks and trekking Gokyo Ri is full of adventure, exciting and sublime views.

Autumn and spring season are perfect for this exotic trek. Like any other classic trek in Everest region Gokyo Ri trekking also starts from Lukla as you take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. We walk through beautiful dense forest of rhododendron, pine and oak, where we can see different high altitude flora and fauna. We move through beautiful villages and break points such as Phakding, Namchebazar, Phortse, Machhermo, and Dole to reach Gokyo valley. We will climb to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) then trek back to Lukla and fly to Kathmandu.

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is the most concerned  part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food,Chinese food and different international cuisines. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food as they have to cater to more trekkers before they run off the stock. It is very hard and takes a week or more for caravan and porters to bring the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will be arranged in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottled water and mineral water in additional cost. It will be better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodges are fairly basic, some tea houses you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spared with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charging camera, mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip, we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter who will carry maximum 30 kg which  means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry maximum 30 kg of your stuff. Porters will carry your necessary stuff in a duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we should have good health, average physical fitness, passion, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be  better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa Treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but temperatures could be  harsher for most trekkers.

Important Notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu (1400 m).
Upon your arrival we assist you from international airport to luxurious hotel. After getting rest and refreshed visit colorful local market of Thamel

Day 02: Visit over Kathmandu valley (1,400 m).
Today we provide you a tour guide visit over Kathmandu valley.  We are visiting the world heritage sites and sightseeing place. We take you to visit the world heritage sites like Boudhanath, Swayambhunath (monkey temple), Kathmandu Darbar square, Patan Darbar square, Bhaktapur Darbar square, Hindus most religious place Pashupatinath, and colorful market of Thamel, narrow path of Ashan, cultural variation and other sightseeing places. Rest overnight at hotel. 

 Day 03: Fly for 25 minutes from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800 m) trek to Phakding (2,610 m).
This is the world's best mountain flight. From this flight you can see 18 different mountains. After landing we trek for 4hours all the way to Phakding (2,600 m) through suspension bridge of Dudh koshi river and rhododendron forest. Next we reach green valley Phakding. Rest overnight.

Day 04: Today we trek for 5-6hours from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m).
Before we start our trekking there will be short brief about route, climate, cultural variation and safety. End of the Phakding village there is suspension bridge over Dudh koshi (Milk River), after 2hours walk we will reach Monjo. In Monjo our travel pass document will checked by government officer, and give us permission to enter Sagarmatha (Everest) national park. Next, we will reach Jorsole this will be our last resting point before climb step to Namche bazar. Stay overnight at Namche bazar

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar (3,440 m).
Today is scheduled acclimatization day, this day we should active our body to intimate with high altitude. You can explore colorful market, visit view point to see beautiful mountains, visit Sherpa cultural village Khumjung with a beautiful view of mountain Themserk, Ama doblam and Mt Everest or visit the Everest National park museum situated above Namche Bazar. Rest overnight.

Day 06: Today we trek for 5hour from Namche Bazar to Dole (4,038 m).
After acclimatization day we prepare physically and mentally for our further trekking. Before we start there will be short brief then we start our trekking by climbing hill and descend to the east of the village. Sonsa is changing point of our route from the most frequented Everest base camp route. The Gokyo turns north Mong and descend to the Dudh koshi river and we start climb uphill through rhododendron forest where we can see mountain goat (Thar), colorful bird Daphe, and beautiful view of Twache and khumbila mountain. After uphill we reach Phortse. After Phortse we have to go through forest, bridge, waterfalls, small lake until reach Dole Overnight at Dole.

Day 07: Today we trek for 5-6hours from Dole all the way to Machhermo (4,410 m).
We climb up through the scenic ridge view of Themsherk, Kantega and Cho-oyu Himalaya. We ascend from luza village to Dudh Koshi River and trail on the sandy way before reach the Machhermo. In the Machhermo we can visit rescue hospital for a lecture about altitude sickness and primary treatment. Rest overnight.

Day 08: Today we trek 4hours from Machhermo all the way to Gokyo (4,800 m).
Before trekking there will be short brief about Gokyo Lake, route and safety. We ascend to the hill and enjoy the view of Themsheku, Cho-oyu and Dudh koshi valley. We descend to the river bank before climbing moraine of Ngozumpa glacier on a step trail. We pass through holy Dudh pokhari (place where pilgrim come to visit), Longpongo, and Loboche Tsho before Gokyo. Next, we will be in a first lake, believed there is a foot print of Buddhist priest. Rest overnight.

Day 09: Today hike for 3hours to Gokyo RI (5,357 M) trek back to Gokyo (4,800 m).
Today is another day in Gokyo. If weather is clear we will climb to Gokyo RI. From here we admire Himalayan vista and tranquil Gokyo Lake. We also hike fourth and fifth Gokyo lake, forth lake is located 3 km away from Gokyo, from here we can see high cliff and Himalayan peak rising above it. After few walk we will be in fifth lake, climbing up by near hill we can see hilarious view of Cho-oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and Everest. From the scounderel's view point we can see Nagozumpa glacier (which is largest glacier of Nepal) and cho-oyu base camp. After fifth lake we turn back to Gokyo. Rest overnight.

Day 10: Today we trek for 5 hours from Gokyo trek to Dole (4,038 m).
Taking beautiful memory from Gokyo we trail down through the edge of Dudh koshi river, forest and valley to Phortse. We explore the Dole and Rest overnight.

Day 11: Today we trek for 6 hours from Dole all the way to Namchebazar (3,440 m).
Our trail moves through steeply way which makes our trail more exciting. Ascend and descend from hill and the beautiful view of valley, crystal clear glacier water, various animals and species makes our journey more exciting. Next we will reach biggest settlement of Sherpa Namchebazar and rest overnight.

Day 12: Today we trek for 6-7hours from Namchebazar to Lukla (2,860 m).
After breakfast our trails start towards Lukla through Dudh koshi river. We pass through beautiful forest of Everest national park, monjo, green valley Phakding to reach Lukla. You can celebrate tonight because tonight is your last night in Everest region with your crew. Rest overnight.  

Day 13: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Today early in the morning after having breakfast we fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. We take beautiful memory and fly to Kathmandu. We spend our half day by visiting sightseeing places and colorful market of Kathmandu valley. You can buy some needed handicraft for your memory. After shopping there will be a typical Nepali dinner (Dal, Bhat) arranged by Yarsa treks with various cultural show. Enjoy evening programs and rest overnight.

Day 14:  Final departure.
Today yarsa trek will assist you to international airport for your departure. There will be small farewell program before your departure.
