Jumla Rara Lake trekking takes you to the remote and untouched Mugu district, which is relatively unexplored by tourists and even unknown to Nepali people. Rara Lake is biggest lake in Nepal. Rara national park is the smallest and most beautiful national park in Nepal, covering an area of 106 sq. km. The attraction of the park is pristine Rara Lake also called Mahendra tal is the biggest lake in Nepal.
The southern part of Mugu has rugged mountain topography with forests of Blue Pine, Cedar and Spurse inhibited by Bhrahmins Chhetri and Thakuris. Whereas, the northern part of Mugu falls on the rain shadow part and inhibits Semi- arid desert vegetation where Tibetan origin people live. In Mugu was the capital of Malla and Khas in 11th to 14th century. Kingdom in the Karnali river Basin where today you will get to see ancient shrines of deity, wooden carvings, bells, flowers and cloth, and pillars of rock carved with sun and the moon. Surprisingly, the local economy of these people runs by the very important medicinal herb Yarsa Gumba which is found in altitude of 3000 to 5000 meter.
Rara trek starts from Jumla which is a Trans Himalayan village after you take a flight from Kathmandu to Jumla. Passing through the lush forest of pine, rugged mountain, viewing spectacular Dhaulagiri range you will reach Rara National Park. In Rara national park Rara Lake surrounded by hills forested hills and peaks like Chankheli (3,201 m.) appears huge in between Mugu Karnali gorge. Rara lake side is paradise for bird watchers as more than 236 species of birds have been reported to inhibit in lake vicinity.

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is most concern part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisine. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food, they have to cater more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes week or more for caravan and porter to brings the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will arrange in the same lodge/Tea house.
Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottle water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.
Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge are fairly basic, some tea house you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spare with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture. There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charge Camera, Mobile phones and other small appliances.
Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter he will carry 30 kg it means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porter will carry your necessary stuff in duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we have good health, average physical fitness, passionate, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.
Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (March-May) is the best season for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but tempters could be most harsh for most trekkers.

Important notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day
1: Welcome to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Upon
your arrival we assist you from international airport to our hotel. After
getting rest and refreshed we will take you to the dinner with complete Nepali
cuisine and live cultural shows. Rest overnight.
Day
2: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley.
Today
we provide you a full day cultural and sightseeing tour around Kathmandu
valley. We let you explore the artistic and ancient temples and stupas, and
some of the world heritage sites around Kathmandu valley. Rest overnight.
Day
3: Fly to Nepalgunj (150 m) for 1 hour.
Today
early morning we take scenic flight from Kathmandu all the way to Nepalgunj. The
city located near border of Nepal and India. We explore around the busy markets
of Nepalgunj , visit mini zoo and observe the culture of local people specially
Tharu community and rest overnight.
Day
4: Fly from Nepalgunj to Jumla (2,370 m) and Trek to Danphe Langa (3,130 m).
Today
after breakfast we fly from Nepaljung all the way to Jumla for 30 minutes. We
take 30 min flight from plain Terai to hilly site of Karnali Zone Jumla. Jumla
is least accessible district of nepal. It is located in foothills of Sisne
Himalaya. This is the gateway to very remote place of Karnali zone. Trek to Danphe Langa. Explore
around and rest overnight.
Day
05: Trek from Danphe Langa to Chautha (2,770 m).
Today
we trek from Danphe Kanga all the way to Chautha (2,770 m). After short brief and
breakfast we start trail to Danphe Langa pass (3,691 m). From here we can see
beautiful landscape and mountains. After Danphe Langa pass we descend through
thick forest to reach Lete Gad River Bridge. Next we cross the bridge and short
climb will lead us to Chautha through Naurighat. Explore around and rest
overnight.
Day
06: Trek from Chautha to Dhotu (3,190 m).
Today
we trek to Dhotu (3190m). We start our trail continuely fallowing the stream
uphill to Bhubule and Rara national park; which is situated in 3130 m. after
entrance to national park trail climb up to Ghurchi Langa Pass (3450 m); which
is covers with chortens, prayers flags and assortments. Next trail goes desend
through forest. Next few walk will lead us to Dhotu. Explore around and rest
overnight.
Day
07: Trek from Dhotu to Rara Lake (3,040 m).
Today
we trek to Rara Lake (3,040 m). After breakfast we start short and pleasant trail
with great view to north. We cross fields down to the small streams steep moves
to north. After crossing the bridge we ascend to the Thakuri village of Jhyari
(2,630 m). After leaving Jhyari trail climb up through ceder forest and huge
meadow (3,050 m) with the great view of Rara Lake. Descend to Rara lake explore
around and rest overnight.
Day
08: Exploration day in Rara Lake.
Today
we acclimatization by exploring around Nepal’s biggest Lake. Rara Lake covers
1583 hectors and 170 m deep. This place is announced as a national park in 1975.
Here we can see different wild endangered animals such as musk deer, red panda,
Himalayan beers, serous, ghorals, rhesus and langurs. Also this place is
important resting place for migrated water fowls. Rest overnight.
Day 09: Trek from Rara Lake to Ghorusinga (3,271 m).
Today
we trek to Ghorasain (3,271 m). We start fallowing stream of Khatyar Gad and
cross along bridge to the Southside to climb steadily through dense forest. Next
we will be reach 3,658 m. route continue to ridge to south with the view of
mountains. Next we descend by the east side of Chuchemara Danda and descend to
Ghorasain. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day
10: Trek from Ghorasain to Sinja (2,438 m).
Today
we trek to Sinja (2,438 m). Trail descends to Botan valley. After valley trail
climb west of Ghorasain and walk almost 1hour through forest to the top crest (5,351
m). When we reach south east high field above the Lumsa; here we can get the
good view of Sinja valley. Next trail descend to Okharpati village and almost 2
hours walk will lead us to Sinja. In 12th to 14th century
Sinja was the capital of Malla dynasty. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day
11: Trek from Sinja to Jaljala Chaur (3,350 m).
Today
we trek to Jaljala Chaur (3350m). We start trail crossing bridge of Sinja khola
through wooden bridge and pass several villages. We pass through pine birch, oak
forest, barley and corn fields. Next trail goes up Jaljala Chaur; meadow with
full of horses. Descend to settlement of Jaljala and rest overnight.
Day
12: Trek from Jaljala to Jumla (2,370 m).
Today
we trek to Jumla (2,370 m). Trail climb through forest and meadows and head to
the ridge at (3,510 m) and continue pleasant descend to Jumla. This is our
finishing destination of our trek. Enjoy last night in Jumla and rest
overnight.
Day
13: Fly Jumla - Nepaljung - Kathmandu.
Today
early morning after breakfast we fly a scenic flight from Jumla to Nepalgunj
and then fly back to Kathmandu.

14: Departure Farewell!!!
Today
yarsa trek will assist you to the international airport for your departure. There
will be the small farewell program before your departure to the destination.
