Pokalde peak at 5,806 meter is one of the lowest elevation trekking peak lying in Everest region of Nepal. This peak was first climbed from its North-ridge along the route from Kongma La in 1953. The peak looks stunning from the villages of Lobuche and Pheriche. Pokalde peak rises above the Kogma La (5,535 m.). Pokalde Peak climbing is perfect blend of challenging climb and classic trekking to one of the most beautiful region of world- the Everest region. Summit of this Peak offers some spectacular close up view of mountains like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Pumori.

First of all you take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla you will trek up to the Phakding and then to Namche Bazar passing along Dudh Koshi river bank, through rhododendron and giant pine forest. Namchebazaar is the major tourist hub in Everest region and also called as Sherpa Capital. From Namche you will trek up to Tengboche where you will get to visit famous monastery of Tengboche the Tengboche monastery. Then crossing the meadows and the Imja Khola Bridge you will reach Dingboche. From Dingboche you will trek up to Lobuche, Goraksheep and then finally to Everest Base Camp. From Everest Base camp you will trek up to Kalapathhar at (5,550 m.) one of the best Mountain View point. From Kalapathar you trek to Pokalde Base camp at 4,400 meter via Lobuche passing through Kongma La pass (5,535 m.). From Lobuche Base camp you climb up to Pokalde High Camp at 5,000 meter through rocky moraine path. From the High Camp you will finally climb the summit of Pokalde Peak. You need to use your climbing gears like crampons, ice axe, climbing ropes, harness, ascender and climbing boots while as you start climbing from Base camp.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,400 m).

Day 02: Permit preparation Sightseeing day in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840 m) and trek to Phakding (2,640 m).~ 30 minutes flight and 3 hours trek

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar (3,440 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m).~ 4-5 hours

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (4,371 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 08: Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (4,930m).~ 3-4 hours

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche to EBC (5,363 m) and back to Gorekshep (5,180 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 10: Trek from Gorekshep to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) and pass Kongma La Pass (5,535 m) to Chhukung village (4,730 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 11: Acclimatization day in Chhukung village.

Day 12: Trek from Chhukung to Pokalde Base Camp (4,500 m).~ 3-4 hours

Day 13: Climb to Pokalde Summit (5,806 m) and back to Chhukung village.~ 7-8 hours

Day 14: Trek back to Tengboche (3,860 m).~ 5-6 hours

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is most concern part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisine. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food; they have to cater more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes week or more for caravan and porter to brings the food in these altitude places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will arrange in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottle water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge are fairly basic, some tea house you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spare with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charge Camera, Mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter he will carry maximum 30 kg it means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry maximum 30 kg of your stuff. Porter will carry your necessary stuff in duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
Pokalde Peak climbing is not much difficult but you should have good physical, stamina, positive energy for summit. You don’t need huge climbing experience but you need to know the knowledge of climbing equipments. Before the summit there will be the pre-ice climbing training; training will let you know how to use climbing equipments. For Pokalde peak climbing you needs to walk usually 5-7 hours of everyday and 7-8 hours in summit day. So, our advise you that you prepare yourself jogging or walking every day around 2 months before your trip. For Pokalde peak climbing you have to walk in high altitude and remote villages. For successful summit you must have potential will power, physical fitness, stamina and positivity inside you. You need to consult with doctor or let us know about your physical condition before your climbing trip.

Climbing:
During the trip we will provide you an experienced, English speaking and license holder climbing guide. For the main guide, assailant guide and necessary Sherpa crew we need to know your group size then we will define the crew member that you need for the climbing trip. We are concern about your safety so we will arrange the necessary staff and Sherpa for your trip; if anybody becomes ill during the trip we still go as planned. Let you know group should be 2-12 people for the successful climbing trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (March-May) is the best season for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but tempters could be most harsh for most trekkers.

Important notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Welcome to Nepal, upon your arrival our airport representative will receive you and assist you to hotel. After getting rest and refreshed we will take you to dinner in Nepali restaurant with cultural show. Rest overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Permit preparation Sightseeing day in Kathmandu.
Today we prepare our climbing permit and visit some UNESCO world heritage sites such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. Prepare for tomorrow trip and rest overnight Hotel on Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840 m) and trek to Phakding (2,640 m).
Today we will take scenery Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840 m) and trek to Phakding (2,640 m). During the flight we can get the magnificent view of mountains, this flight is more like mountain flight. After landing Tenzing-Hillary airport meet your climbing guide, porters and other necessary staffs and prepare bag packs. We start walk through different villages and descend to Dudh Koshi valley. We will cross suspension bridge several times then we will be in Phakding village. Explore around and rest over night at lodge. 

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazar (3,440 m).
Today we trek all the way to capital of Sherpa Namcha Bazaar. Trail moves through edge of Dudh Koshi River and pass small villages of Sherpa.  We will ascend to the ridge name Monjo; all documents will be checked. After checking your documents we will enter UNESCO world heritage site Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. Next we steeply ascend to Namche Bazaar. During the trek we can get the magnificent view of Khumbilla, Everest, Lhotse and other snow capped peaks. Explore around and rest overnight Lodge. 

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar.
Today we stay at Namche Bazaar and hike for acclimatization. We will trek Khumjung village or hike to the ridge above Namche Bazaar to see the majestic views of mountains and green valleys of Dudh Koshi River. Visit colorful markets and rest overnight.

Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m).
Today we trek above the ridge of Namche and walk through terraced field. Trail moves through forest of rhododendron and oak then descend to Dudh Koshi River to cross the suspension bridge. Next, we walk through forest and ascend to reach Tengboche. Explore great view of mountains and rest overnight. 

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (4,371 m).
Today early in the morning we will visit Tengboche monastery with the magnificent view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt Ama Doblam and other majestic peaks. After having breakfast trail moves through forest and cross several lodges. Next trail descend to Imjha River and cross the bridge. After crossing the bridge we walk through alpine to reach Panboche. Leaving Panboche back, trail moves towards Pheriche. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 08: Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (4,930 m).
Today we start walk with the view of Lobuche peak, Tawache, Cholatse and other snow capped peaks. Trail moves to cross the bridge and reach Dhukla (4,620 m) through Yak grazing. Next we will reach gravely terminal of Khumbu. Here we can see memorial graves of Scott Fisher and other Sherpa who died 1996 disaster. From here we can get the majestic view of Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse and other Mahalangur peaks. We can’t see Everest because it hides behind the Nuptse and Lhotse. After reaching Lobuche explore the majestic view and rest overnight.

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche to EBC (5,363 m) and back to Gorekshep (5,180 m).
Today is our exciting day to visit EBC. We walk through windy and rocky path to reach Gorekshep. After having lunch we are ready to visit world highest mountain’s base camp. In the base camp we can see the view of Khumbu ice fall and colorful campsite. After visiting EBC we trek back to Gorekshep and rest overnight.

Day 10: Trek from Gorekshep to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) and pass Kongma La Pass (5,535 m) to Chhukung village (4,730 m).
Today early in the morning we hike to the Kalapatthar. We can get the magnificent view sunrise over of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt Nuptse and other Mahalangur range. After taking some picture we walk back to Gorekshep and trek to Kangma La Pass (5,535 m). From Kongma La Pass we can get the towering view of Mt. Everest, Mt Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Pokhalde Peak and other many peaks. Next, we descend to Imjha valley and walk to the small summer settlement Chhukung village. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 11: Acclimatization day in Chhukung village.
Today we stay here for acclimatize. Before climb to the peak our body should intimate with high altitude. We should active instead of lazy. You can go for the hike to small passes for the view. Your climbing guide will teach you how to use climbing tools during summit. Rest overnight.

Day 12: Trek from Chhukung to Pokalde Base Camp (4,500 m).
Today we trek all the way to Pokalde Base Camp. We will walk for 3-4 hours to reach Pokalde Base Camp. In the base camp your climbing guide will tell you about climbing skills and teach you how to use climbing tools. Your crew will set tent and cook food for you in Base Camp.

Day 13: Climb to Pokalde Summit (5,806 m) and back to Chhukung village.
Today we will wake up early 2 am and prepare for summit. We climb through rocky path to reach top of the Pokalde peak. From Pokalde peak you can get the magnificent panorama such as Mt. Lhotse, Mt, Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt.Makalu, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Ama Doblam and other highest mountain of Khumbu region. After spending some time on the peak trek back to base camp to Chhukung village. Rest overnight at tea house. 

Day 14: Trek back to Tengboche (3,860 m).
Today we trek back to Tengboche with the majestic view of Himalayas of Khumbu region. We trek through Imjha valley and follow the Imjha River then we will reach to Dingboche. Trail moves from the edge of the Imjha River until we reach bridge before the Tengboche. During the trek we pass through Worshyo, Shomare and Panboche villages. Next, trail crosses the bridge and walk through forest to reach Tengboche. Rest overnight.

Day 15: Trek back to Khumjung (3,970 m) and to Namche (3,440 m).
Today we descend through forest and cross Suspension bridge of Dudh Koshi River. Next, we ascend to Khumjung village and then descend to Namche Bazaar. Rest overnight.

Day 16: Trek back to Lukla (2,840 m).
Today we trek back to Lukla through Dudh Koshi valley and several villages. We descend from Namche Bazaar and walk through Monjo, Phakding, Cheplung and several villages. On the way we can see majestic view of Himalayas behind us. You can celebrate your successful summit with your crew in Khumbu region and rest overnight.

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Today we fly back to Kathmandu with the beautiful memory of Khumbu region. After landing in airport representative of Yarst treks will receive you and drop you to hotel. You can go for the shopping in Thamel (Big market for handicraft) and buy some memorial things.

Day 18: Farewell friends!!!
We will drive from Hotel to Airport for your onward destination, Here your services end of Yarsa Treks Treks. Hope this is not your last time in Nepal. We are always ready to welcome you in Nepal.
