Poon hill sunrise is the easiest trekking in Nepal. Ghorepani Poon hill situated at the best location of Annapurna region. In this short trek we will get the magnificent view of sunrise over majestic Himalayas of Annapurna region. In this short route we trek through dense forests of rhododendron, charming villages of Gurung and Magar communities. This  place is the break point for trekkers before they move to high altitude. During this trek our trail moves through different cultural villages. Here we can get the opportunity to observe the lifestyle and culture of Gurung and Magar. This region is inhabited by Gurung community who are unique for their culture and tradition.

Poon hill (3,210 m) is famous for view point in Annapurna region. From here we can see the magnificent views of the Himalayas such as Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Hiunchuli (6,441 m), Annapurna Himalayan range, Machhapuchhre known as Fishtail (6,993 m), Gangapurna (7,455 m), Himalaya of Dolpo to the west and many other snow capped peaks. Most dramatic view from Poon hill is sunrise view over the highest mountains of Annapurna region.

Poon hill sunrise trek starts from Pokhara and walks through gorge of the Modi Khola. This 4 days Poon hill sunrise trek leads you to the ridge called Tikhedhunga with the splendid view of Machhapuchhre. After Tikhedhunga the trail leads you to Ghorepani and you will be rewarded with the majestic views of Annapurna (8,091 m) and Machhapuchre (8,156 m). Finally,we hike to  Poon hill (3,210 m) to see the phenomenal sunrise and mountain views. After spectacular views of Annapurna region we trek back and drive from Nayapul to Pokhara.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Pokhara - Nayapul - Tikhedhunga (1,577 m).~ 42 km drive and 4-5 hours trek

Day 02: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,853 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 03: Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,600 m) via Poon Hill (3,210 m).~ 6-7 hours

Day 04: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,900 m) to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara (835 m).~7-8 hours trek and 42 km drive to Pokhara

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is the most concerned part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisines. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food as they have to cater to more trekkers before they run off stock. It is very hard and takes a week or more for caravan and porters to bring the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will be arranged in the same lodge/Tea house.


Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea houses you can get bottled water and mineral water in additional cost. It will be better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/ Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodges are fairly basic, in some tea houses you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spared with two beds with blankets and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warmth by Bukhara stove. In the tea houses there will be solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charging camera, mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get a porter who  will carry 30 kg which means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porters will carry your necessary stuff in a duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous. Passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we should have good health, average physical fitness, passion, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problems such as lungs, heart and other diseases, it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in Summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but temperatures could be  harsher for most trekkers.

Important Notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Pokhara to Nayapul and trek Tikhedhunga (1,577 m).~ 4-5 hours
Drive almost 1 ½ hour along Zigzag road. Next we reach Nayapul (1,070 m.) and then trek to Birethanti riverside village. Trail starts follow the Bhurungi Khola and gradually up side of the valley to reach Tikhedhunga. Explore around village and rest overnight.

Day 02: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,855 m).~ 5–6 hours
Ascend to Ulleri Village and passing through a pleasant Rhododendron forest, beautiful landscape and view of mountain gives you energy ascends to reach at the top of Ghorepani pass. Ghorepani is the village with some lodges; most of the tourist takes rest before poon hill.   Few hours walk will leads us to top of the Ghorepani where we can see fabulous view of Dhulagiri and Annapurna range.

Day 03: Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,680 m) via Poon Hill (3,210 m).~ 6–7 hours
Trail moves through rhododendron forest and walk almost 1hour to reach poon hill. From here we can see magnificent sunrise view over Annapurna range and panoramic view of high Himalayas stretching from far western Dolpa, Mustang and Dhaulagiri in the northeast part. Next, walk back to Ghorepani for breakfast and start trekking to Tadapani. Our trail moves through numeric ridge and pine rhododendron forest. Next we will reach Tadapani and rest overnight at lodge.

Day 04:  Tadapani (2,680 m) to Ghandruk (1,900 m) to Nayapul and drive back Pokhara.
Our trails moves descending through the dark rhododendron forest, actually this forest turn in to a beautiful garden it depends upon season. Next pass through lush moss-covered forest toward Ghandruk village. Ghandruk is one of the most legendary settlements of Gurung tribe of Nepal and cultural inhabitant of the Annapurna trail. From here we can see magnificent view of fish tail, Annapurna, and Hiun chuli, also we can visit the museum of Gurung community and trek back to Nayapul. Next drive 1 hour to Pokhara and arrange hotel yourself this is the end of our trip.
