Short Everest base camp trek offers beautiful landscapes, majestic mountain views, unique Sherpa culture and panoramic sunrise view from Kalapatthar (5,545 m). This 10 days short Everest Base Camp trek focuses to those who don’t have time and budget but physically fit to complete this challenging trek in such a short duration. Trekking in Everest region in the best season will be lifetime experience for nature lovers. 

Autumn and spring are best seasons for trekking in the Himalayan region. During these seasons travellers can enjoy the magic of the Himalayan regions in Nepal. September, October and November are festival months in Nepal. In autumn season you can get blended taste of clear weather and biggest festival of Nepal. In this season (autumn) trekkers can get cultural and natural benefits while trekking in Nepal. Likewise, spring is another perfect season for trekking in mountain. During the spring whole rhododendron forest turns into beautiful flower garden and we can get mountain views with full of snow. In this season Everest Base Camp seems to be decorated by colorful tents because spring (March, April and May) is the best season for climbing.

We suggest you to visit Everest base camp in autumn and spring. We have different departure dates to visit Everest region for trekking in autumn and spring. During these seasons you can get the full magic of Everest region. Short Everest Base Camp trek targets those who are physically fit and able to walk for 6-7 hrs per day without any hesitation. Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu (1,400 m) to Lukla (2,860 m) and trek to Phakding (2,640 m).~ 30 minutes flight and 2-3 hours trek

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namchebazar (3,440 m).~  4-5 hours

Day 03: Trek from Namchebazar to Tengboche (3,880 m).~  4-5 hours

Day 04: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (4,371 m).~ 5-6 hours

Day 05: Trek Pheriche to Lobuche (4,940 m).~  4-5 hours

Day 06: Trek from Lobuche to EBC (5,364 m) via Gorak Shep (5,164 m).~  5-6 hours

Day 07: Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) and trek back to Pheriche.~  6 hours

Day 08: Trek from Pheriche to Namchebazar (3,440 m).~  6-7 hours

Day 09: Trek from Namchebazar to Lukla (2,860 m).~  5-6 hours

Day 10: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m).~ 30 minutes flight

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is the most concerned  part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food,Chinese food and different international cuisines. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food as they have to cater to more trekkers before they run off the stock. It is very hard and takes a week or more for caravan and porters to bring the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will be arranged in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottled water and mineral water in additional cost. It will be better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodges are fairly basic, some tea houses you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spared with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charging camera, mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip, we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter who will carry maximum 30 kg which  means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry maximum 30 kg of your stuff. Porters will carry your necessary stuff in a duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we should have good health, average physical fitness, passion, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be  better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa Treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but temperatures could be  harsher for most trekkers.

Important Notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu (1,400 m) to Lukla (2,860 m) and trek to Phakding (2,640 m).~ 30 minutes flight and trek for 2-3 hours
Today we receive you from hotel and transfer to airport. We take scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. During the flight you can get the magnificent view of more than 18 mountains and four of them are 8,000 m above. After dramatic landing at Tenzing-Hillary airport you will meet your crew (Guide and porter) and prepare your bag packs for further trekking to Everest base camp. We pass Lukla village and descend to the George of the Dudh Koshi river and follow the trail. On the way you will cross several suspension bridge of Dudh koshi then you will be in beautiful Dudh Koshi valley Phakding. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namchebazaar (3,440 m).~ Trek for 4-5 hours
Today after breakfast we continue to follow the Dudh Koshi river and pass several Sherpa villages and ascend to the ridge Monjo; here your all document permit will be checked before enter to UNESCO world heritage site Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. We walk through dense forest of National park and if we are lucky we can see some rare animals and birds during this trek. Next, we ascend for 2 hours to reach capital of Sherpa Namchebazaar. Explore the colorful market of Namchebazaar and rest overnight at lodge/Tea house.

Day 03: Trek from Namchebazaar to Tengboche (3,880 m).~ Trek 4-5 hours
Today after breakfast we ascend to ridge line above the Namchebazaar and see the majestic view of Ama Doblam, Lhotse, Everest front of you and beautiful view of Namchebazaar and Dudh Koshi valley behind you with the colorful tin at the roof. We walk a through terraced field and enter to dense forest of National Park. Trail descends to Dudh koshi which is separate point of Gokyo Trek. We cross the Dudh Koshi River and ascend through forest to reach Tengboche. Explore Tengboche village and rest overnight.

Day 04: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410 m).~ Trek 5-6 hours
Today early in the morning you will visit Tengboche monastery and see the amazing sunrise view over Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and other snow capped peaks. We take breakfast and walk through forest with the view of majestic Himalayas. Trail cross Imjha river and walk left George of Imjha river, here you can see the change vegetation to alpine semi desert. Next, we cross the Pangboche village and follow the trail with the several Mountain View; here you can see the Thar (mountain goat). Lastly, you will be Dingboche; here you can see the rock wall to protect barely food from animals. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 05: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940 m).~ Trek 4-5 hours
Today after breakfast trail moves through Pheriche and walk gradually to the ridge with the towering view of Twache and Cholaste. We will cross wooden bridge and continue to walk towards Dhukla. Next, we pass Dukla waterfall bridge and climb to the gravely terminal of Khumbu; here you can see the grave of Scott Fisher and other Sherpa who died in 1996 Everest disaster. From here trekkers can get crystal clear Mountain View of Lingtren, Pumari, Khumbutse and other peak of Mahalangur range. Next, we walk for an hour to reach Lobuche. Explore around and rest overnight.

Day 06: Trek from Lobuche to EBC (5,364 m) via Gorek Shep (5,164 m).~ Trek 5-6 hours
Today is our one of the ultimate walk for this trek. After breakfast we walk through windy and rocky path to reach Gorekshep. After lunch and rest we walk to EBC; here we can see colorful tents at the base camp, view of Khumbu Icefall and towering view of Pumari and Khumbutse. After taking some picture of EBC we trek back to Gorekshep and rest overnight.

Day 07: Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) and trek back to Pheriche.~ Trek 6 hours
Today very early in the morning we will trek to Kalapatthar for the breathtaking view of sunrise over earth highest mountains. From here you can get the majestic Mountain View around you. After some snaps we trek back to Gorekshep and continue walk to Pheriche. We trek back same trail as we trek before. Explore around and observe the Sherpa culture. Rest overnight.

Day 08: Trek from Pheriche to Namchebazaar (3,440 m).~ Trek 6-7 hours
Today is one of the long walk of this trip. We walk through the gorge of the Imjha River, pass Pangboche village, cross the Imjha river and walk through forest to reach Tengboche. After Tengboche we descend through forest of rhododendron and cross Dudh koshi. Next, ascend to the ridge and walk down to capital of Sherpa Namchebazaar. Rest overnight.

Day 09: Trek from Namchebazaar to Lukla (2,860 m).~ Trek 5-6 hours
Today is our last walk of this trek, after breakfast we descend and follow the George of Dudh Koshi and pass Monjo, Phakding, Cheplung. Next we reach to Lukla village, today is your last night with your crew thus you can celebrate your successful trip with your crew and rest ovcernight.

Day 10: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 m).~ 30 minutes flight
Today carrying all the memories of Khumbu region we take scenic flight to Kathmandu. After your land in Kathmandu our airport representative will receive and transfer you to your hotel. your service with Yarsa treks ends here.
