Tilicho Lake trek is another popular trekking destination in Annapurna region. Situated at an elevation of (4,919 m) the Tilicho Lake is considered as situated at the highest altitude in the world. The lake is fed by the melting glacier of northern slopes of Annapurna range and Thorong peak. The Lake is considered as one most famous of the Holy Lakes in Hinduism as the lake has been described in the holy book of Hindus the “Ramayana”. Every year thousands of Hindu pilgrims come here to visit the holy lake, Tilicho. This is a tea house and camping type trekking.

Among the trekkers, this route became famous since 2001. This route is combination of culture and its scenery. During the trek we can get the majestic views of Hiunchuli (6,441 m/21,132 ft) and Manaslu (8156 m/26,781 ft) to the east. The trail passes through one of the highest passes of Annapurna region, Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). We can get delightful sight of the Gurung (at low altitude) and the Tibetan (at high altitude) villages. We can observe high altitude grazing settlements; pass through narrow canyons and deep forest with the view of majestic snow capped Himalayan peaks. From Tilicho lake we can see breathtaking views of Tilicho peak (7,134 m), Annapurna range, Chulu east (6,584 m), Chulu west (6,419 m) and other many peaks.

Tilicho trekking offers you the spectacular Himalayan views of Manaslu (8,156 m) and Hiunchuli (6,441 m) as you cross the Marsyangdi River valley. This trek takes you to different villages inhabited by different ethnic people and lets you experience their cultural variety. From the village you trek up to the Tilicho Lake base camp. Passing through small gompa and yak pastures you will reach Tilicho base camp. From Tilicho base camp you need to trek for another 4 to 5 hours to reach Tilicho Lake. From Tilicho Lake you trek back to Khansar village. From Khansar village you will trek up to  Thorong Phedi and climb the high pass of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) and enjoy the panoramic view of Khatung and Yakawa Khang mountain and Manang valley. From Manang you trek to Jomsom from where you can take a flight back to Pokhara.

Meals:

When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is the most concerned part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisines. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food as they have to cater to more trekkers before they run off stock. It is very hard and takes a week or more for caravan and porters to bring the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will be arranged in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:

During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea houses you can get bottled water and mineral water in additional cost. It will be better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:

We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodges are fairly basic, in some tea houses you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spared with two beds with blankets and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warmth by Bukhara stove. In the tea houses there will be solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charging camera, mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:

This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get a porter who  will carry 30 kg which means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porters will carry your necessary stuff in a duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:

These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous.Passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we should have good health, average physical fitness, passion, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problems such as lungs, heart and other diseases, it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:

For trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in Summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but temperatures could be  harsher for most trekkers.

Important Notes:

If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01:Welcome to Kathmandu (1400 m).
Upon your arrival we assist you from international airport to the hotel. After getting rest you can visit colorful market of Thamel and rest ovenight.

Day 02:Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.
Today we will provide you experienced guide to visit world heritage places Swayambhunath (known as monkey temple), Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Darbar squares and sightseeing places.preparation for tomorrow trekking and Rest overnight.

Day 03:Drive from Kathmandu to Sayagy (1,100 m).
We drive you kathmandu to syange(212 km). We go all the way to syange from the edge of Trishuli river which is very famous for rafting. After crossing the Bridge of Trishuli River we turn south towards Dumre. from Dumre we turn north and fallow the Marshyandi river through Nadi valley and Beshi Sahar untill we reach Syange. Rest overnight.

Day 04:Trek from Sayage to Tal (1,700 m).
We pass through Chame and see the gorgeous Ghermu waterfall and Chame waterfall. After these waterfall we will be in Tibetan settled village (migrated long time ago). On the way we can see different lifestyle, settlement and culture. After crossing suspension bridge climb lead us to Tal village (where Gurung and Tibetan were settled). Overnight at Lodge.

Day 05: Trek from Tal to Danakyu (2,300 m).
Today we trek all the way to Danakyu through the edge of Marsyangdi. From Tal village we can get the bus but we are here for trekking so, we do not travel through bus. On the way we can see beautiful view of Marshyangdi valley slope, rocks, beautiful landscape and experience various cultural values. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 06:Trek from Danakyu to Chame (2,600 m).
Today our trail moves to chame. After breakfast we walk through Tanchok, koto and other small villages. On the way we will move through dense forest of rhonodendron. We can feel the natural heaven around us. On the way of forest we can see giant hills with full of rock and hear singing voice of different birds that will reduce our tiredness and inspire to move on. We can see remote lifestyle and their culture of local people. Chame is our destination for today so we will take rest and overnight at Lodge.

Day 07:Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,300 m).
After breakfast and short brief our trail start climb up, descend down, crosses several rivers and we will be in small village Taleku. After Taleku village within 2hour walk, we will cross bridge to the sparsely inhabited settlement of Bartang. This Khampa settlement is the boundary between Manang and Lamjung. Next, almost 1hour trail of river, crossing bridge and ascend will lead us to Pisang. You can see beautiful rock wall and changes of landscape through the trekking; you can see arid land on the climb.  Overnight at Lodge

Day 08:Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,500 m).
We start our trail in windy and dry atmosphere, which makes special and interesting for tourists. Trail rises stairy way from lower Pisang to reach upper manang valley. On the way we can see view of airfield and settlement from vintage point. Next, our trail descends and goes through the flat valley to reach Ongre. After crossing Sabche River with a great view of Annapurna range. After half hour walk, we will be in Braga. In this village have a beautiful architecture of cliff wall. Next, we will be in Manang. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 09: Rest day for Acclimatization at Manang.
Explore the cultural and natural beauties around. Today we stay at Manang and explore the place of Manang and go for short hike. We can visit Bhojo, Ganagapurna Lake and Gumba. If we have time we will visit Himalayan rescue association (HRA) to get knowledge about mountain sick and how to be safe from it. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 10:Trek from Manang to Khangsar (3,700 m).
We start our trekking through the edge of Marsyangdi river to Khangsar. From Manang there is a bus route to Khangsar but we are not going through bus, we walk all the way to khangsar. On the way you can see the beautiful view of marsyangdi valley, Cliff Mountain, Ldam phra and tilicho peak. After reach khangsar we explore the natural and cultural value. khangsar is the cultural village of upper mustsng  from here we can see the towering view of Ldam phra (5875 m). Overnight at Lodge.

Day 11:Trek from Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4,150 m).
Today our trail passing through interesting and adventurous path, On the way we can see beautiful landscape, snow covered slops, rocks and hilarious view of Khangsar kang(7485 m) and ascend to the Tilicho base camp. Overnight at lodge.

Day 12:Trek to the Lake Tilicho (4,919 m).
The highest Lake in world waiting to meet us and see the incredible View of Lake, Tilicho peak, Mount Annapurna range, Chulu East, Chulu West and many. We will trek Down to little low altitude Siru kharka (3,930 m.). Overnight at Lodge.

Day 13:Trek from Siru Kharka to Yak Kharka (4,100 m).
Today we start our trail from Siru kharka to Yakkharka by crossing the graze of horses and yak. After crossing wooden bridge we will reach Yakkharka. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 14:Trek from Yak kharka to Thorog High Camp (4,700 m).
We start our trail by walking up hill to Thorong phedi. Before Ledar village we cross suspension bridge, ascend and pass from near of towering cliff. Thorong phedi is the last village before Thorong la pass, on the way we can see amazing view of Mt Gundang, Mt Thrung peak, Mt Syangang and Mt Khatangkan. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 15:Climb up to Throng-la Pass (5,416 m) to reach Muktinath Temple.
Before we trek to Muktinath (3,760 m.), we start our trek to Thorong la pass. This is the highest point of Annapurna trekking. It takes almost 6hour to climb from here we can see magnificent view of Muktinath temple (pilgrimage place for Hindus and Buddhist, believed sins are relieved after visiting this holy temple). Descend to Muktinath temple about 2 hours. Overnight at Muktinath.

Day 16:Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,700 m).
We start ascend our trekking through Ranipawuwa, Gharkot and other small villages all the way to Jomsom.  On the way we can get beautiful view of landscape, cultural variation and kind hospitality of local community. Next, we reach Jomsom explore around it and we can get local brandy product made from apple it is very famous brandy in this region. Overnight at Lodge in Jomsom. 

Day 17:Take a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Today we take flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and explore beauty of Pokhara for half day. We will visit Sarangkot, Phewa Taal, white Gumba, Chamare cave, Mahindra cave, and beautiful reflection of fishtail mountain over Phewa taal and Davi's falls. Rest overnight.

Day 18:Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara.
Today we drive back from Pokhara to kathmandu. In Kathmandu there will be the celebration for completing of your journey. Yarsa treks will arrange dinner in Nepali restaurant with cultural show. Enjoy evening cultural show and rest overnight. 

Day 19:Departure from Kathmandu to your onward destination.
Today Yarsa trek will drop you to international airport before 3hour for your final departure to your destination. There will be the farewell program before your departure.
